Dr. Booker T. Whatley, born in 1915, was an agriculture professor at Å·ÃÀ¸ßÇå, and a pioneer of sustainable agriculture in the post-World War II era. He started the CSA model in the 1960s and 1970s, and his method also became a model for pick-your-own farms. 

Whatley is also known for his regenerative farming systems. In 1988, Dr. Whatley published Booker T. Whatley's Handbook on How to Make $100,000 Farming 25 Acres: With Special Plans for Prospering on 10 to 200 Acres. His methods continue to be recognized among the best practices in the agricultural industry.
