COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Tuskegee women's track and field team captured the 2025 SIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship this weekend with a dominant three-day showing at the Sheila and Morris Cregger Track in Columbia, South Carolina.
The Golden Tigers posted standout performances across nearly every discipline, showcasing the program's depth and versatility.
Distance runner Anaya Martin led the charge for Tuskegee, delivering an exceptional championship meet with three first-place finishes.
She won the 10,000 meters with a time of 43:38.17, the 3000-meter steeplechase, and the 5000 meters in 20:05.41.
Martin also secured a silver medal in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:06.83 and placed sixth in the 800 meters, scoring in every event she entered.
Jahkaya McBurney claimed the women's heptathlon title with 3,644 points and added a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and 13th place in the high jump with a mark of 1.45 meters.
Her teammate Amira Broussard was right behind her in the heptathlon, earning silver with 3,547 points, while also finishing sixth in the long jump and 11th in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the sprints, An'Janae Latchinson delivered a commanding effort with a gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles at 13.87 seconds.
She added bronze finishes in both the 100 meters at 11.81 and the 200 meters at 24.31, along with a ninth place showing in the 200-meter preliminary rounds. Latchinson also anchored two relay teams and helped them finish among the top four.
Middle-distance standout Akierah Walker had a busy and successful weekend, placing second in the 3000-meter steeplechase, third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.97, and fourth in the 1500 meters.
Genesis Harrell contributed with a third-place finish in the steeplechase, eighth place in the 10,000 meters, and 10th in the 5000 meters.
Shalyah Tresvant followed with a fifth-place finish in the 5000 meters, seventh in the steeplechase, and ninth in the 10,000 meters, while Jurni Janac placed ninth in the 5000 meters and 14th in the 1500 meters.
In field events, Matealia Harper secured the javelin throw title with a top mark of 33.68 meters.
Serenity Mitchell took third in the javelin at 30.79 meters and placed sixth overall in the heptathlon.
Danielle Wilson finished fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.42 meters and sixth in the javelin, while De'Shell Carr placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.16 meters, seventh in the high jump at 1.50 meters, and seventh in the heptathlon with 3,160 points.
Tuskegee's relay teams also added valuable points. The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Broussard, Latchinson, Carr, and Nadia Jones placed fourth with a time of 47.92 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Broussard, Latchinson, McBurney, and Asia Nettles closed out the championship with a third-place finish in 3:54.52.
With point contributions across sprints, distance, jumps, throws, relays, and the heptathlon, Tuskegee's complete team effort was enough to secure the program's latest SIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship and affirm their status as a dominant force in the league.
The win also finished the track season with the Golden Tigers taking both the indoor and outdoor track championships for the first time in school and conference history.
